Our Main Fundraiser of the Year!
The Read-a-Thon is not only a fun and inspiring event that encourages a love of reading—it’s also the Torrey Hills PTA’s main fundraiser of the year. Every dollar raised goes directly back to supporting our students, teachers, school, and community.
This beloved event brings students and families together in the spirit of literacy and school pride. With your support, we’re able to fund programs, events, and supplies that benefit every child at Torrey Hills.
Why Donate to the Read-a-Thon?
When you donate to the Read-a-Thon, you’re helping the PTA provide:
- Teacher Mini-grants so teachers can purchase supplies for their classrooms
- School Programs like Red Ribbon Week, Great Kindness Challenge, Staff Appreciation Week
- School Learning Environments like the outdoor science classroom
- Free community events like Ice Cream Social, Movie Night, and Field Day for all students and their families
- Gifts to the school like the Gaga Pit, new playground equipment, and the Makerspace in the library

Dress up Days
Friday, October 16th – We are O-fish-ally Reading!
Dress up like your favorite Book Character or Teacher.
Monday, October 19th – We are Cozy Coastal Readers!
Wear your pajamas and comfy clothes!
Wednesday, October 21st – We Make a Reading Rainbow!
A colorful celebration where students can dress up in rainbow-themed outfits to celebrate the joy of reading! Each color could represent a different book genre:
- Red for adventure
- Orange for fantasy
- Yellow for non-fiction
- Green for nature books
- Blue for mystery
- Purple for poetry
Friday, October 23rd – Our Future is Bright! Surf’s Up, Read On!
Wear board shorts, rash guards, surf tees, Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, sun hats, or floral prints.
Book Drive
Our Book Drive to benefit Read It Again San Diego will be held Thur, October 1st through Mon, October 26th.
We welcome donations of new or gently used books for children ages 5-14, especially: beginning readers, picture books, early chapter books geared towards 8-12 years old, graphic novels. Books will be distributed to elementary students at National City partner schools.
Donation bins will be located in the front office.
